What is Yes, Your Grace?
Yes, Your Grace is a role-playing strategy game that focuses most of its mechanics on resource management and binary choices. The game also requires the player to lead an army, make alliances with other rulers, and fight in the upcoming wars.
Players can negotiate with other rulers through diplomacy or create factions with them by successfully marrying into their families.
Besides, helping out petitioners and making tough choices when it comes to managing resources, you will also be required to make dialogue choices when handling different situations with your family members, your prisoners, and even other rulers.
In the end, your choices will determine what kind of ending you as the player will receive and what fate has become the kingdom of Davern under your leadership.
Yes, Your Grace – The Basics
Yes, Your Grace puts the player into the shoes of King Eryk of Davern and tasks them with ruling the kingdom and helping out his subjects in need while at the same time successfully managing all kinds of family issues and situations that arise unexpectedly. The gameplay heavily focuses on player choices the way each player responds to specific situations and how they handle resources that are currently available to them.
Yes, Your Grace – Gameplay
As the player, you are completely in charge of the main character, King Eryk and as him, you are free to move around your castle and interact with different items, family members, and other loyal and not-so-loyal subjects that you come across.
As we mentioned above, the game heavily focuses on player choices and each of those choices will come with its own advantages and disadvantages. Another core component of the game is resource management which when combined with the presented choices can lead to all kinds of unexpected situations and outcomes.
Most of your time will be spent in the throne room where you will meet with petitioners and each of them will come with their own problems, needs, and sometimes even suggestions. It will be entirely up to you whom you choose to help out and who walks home without any assistance. However, keep in mind that each decision you make can and will affect the happiness of your subjects.
On occasion, you might find yourself pressed for resources due to an upcoming war with another kingdom, so it may not always be possible to help everyone out and thus you will be required to prioritize certain things over others.
At the end of every week, specific objectives may pop up that require specific resources such as repairing the dungeons or making preparations for the wedding. While doing these may not always come with a benefit in the form of resources, they will affect various aspects of your game and how certain things unfold.
Yes, Your Grace – Resources
As we already mentioned above, managing different resources is a large part of gameplay when it comes to Yes, Your Grace so let’s take a closer look at all of the resources that you will need to keep track of and properly utilize in order to lead your kingdom into a prosperous future.
Gold is one of the basic resources in Yes, Your Grace, and like in many other games, you will need a lot of it, so make sure that you take every opportunity to get it.
Gold can be used in many different ways in Yes, Your Grace including buying items such as medicine from various NPCs or giving it out to petitioners who come to your court and ask you for assistance.
In order to obtain more gold, you can help different NPCs by investing in their business ideas such as opening Inns and Taverns. This will prompt those NPCs to give you a portion of the profits on a weekly basis. In some cases, you will even be able to negotiate the amount you receive.
Gold can also be obtained by taking loans, however, it is worth noting that a small fee will be added to the amount that you need to return when the time comes.
Supplies are another essential resource that you will need to successfully manage in the game as you will need them for a multitude of things.
Similarly to gold, many petitioners will come to you requesting aid in the form of supplies which you of course can either grant or deny.
However, some petitioners will come and give you supplies provided that you have helped them in the past, so it is generally a good idea to help out as many people as you can.
Supplies can also be obtained by sending out your generals on tasks from which they will bring back the spoils.
The army is marked by the sword icon and is pretty self-explanatory. It depicts the number of soldiers that are currently enlisted in your army.
The size of the army determines the outcome of battles so naturally, you would want to have as many soldiers as you can possibly get under your command.
In order to increase the army, you can make arrangements with your allies who will usually request a favor in return. These favors can come in many shapes and sizes including marrying your daughters into the neighboring kingdoms.
Contentment in Yes, Your Grace is depicted by two faces at the bottom of your screen and it basically measures how happy are the subjects of your kingdom. The more you provide for your people and the more petitioners you help out, the larger the contentment of your kingdom.
Generals in Yes, Your Grace are not really a type of resource but are something that you will be required to manage.
As the king, you will have various generals under your command and each of them can perform all kinds of tasks.
Your generals can be used to assist petitioners who are having issues with bandits or other problems that would require a skilled general to handle properly.
In addition, you can also send out your generals on scouting missions to locate and dispatch enemy camps around your castle.
It is important to note that each mission that you send out a general to will make your general unavailable for a specific amount of time. Generals who are out on missions don’t require additional resources.
Yes, Your Grace – Tips and Tricks
Now that you are familiar with the basics of the game and its gameplay mechanics, here are some tips and tricks that you can utilize in order to have an easier time with the game, or just to try it out and have fun with it.
Obtain the Bank Loan
As we mentioned above, at specific points in time, usually when you are low on gold, a loanshark will come to visit you at your court and offer their services inYes, Your Grace.
While an increased return rate may initially be scary, it is important to note that your first loan will come without any fees which means that it is basically free gold that you can obtain.
This will provide you with a huge advantage in the early game stages of Yes, Your Grace and allow you to make investments with your petitioners which will grant you some greatly appreciated gold income every week.
Inn and Tavern are a Must
Investing in the inn and Tavern early is an excellent way to get a kickstart on your gold income and get a good headstart in Yes, Your Grace. This isn’t extremely hard to do despite the relatively high gold requirements.
Hopefully, you have already taken that free loan that we talked about in the previous section. Investing in the Inn will grant you a weekly income of 1 gold while the Tavern will generate up to 3 gold for you on a weekly basis.
It is important to note here that the Tavern keeper will try to lowball you and offer you only one gold piece per week so make sure that you don’t fall for his shenanigans and ask for a higher gold rate.
Make Sure to Use Your Generals
Despite being counterintuitive, your generals don’t require any additional upkeep or resources when they are out completing missions and performing various tasks for you.
This means that every time you send a general out and keep it away from the castle, you save yourself some gold and supplies in Yes, Your Grace.
Make sure to send out as many generals as you can, however, it might also be wise to keep one in the castle at a moment’s notice should any unpredictable situations occur and require their skills.
Make Use of Your Allies
Making alliances with the rulers of neighboring kingdoms is a great way to increase your army and manpower, however, your allies can provide you with a lot more. All you need to do is ask.
Most of the time, your allies will offer a sizeable portion of gold and supplies in addition to manpower so make sure that you take advantage of that fact and gain from them as much as you can.
During a specific day, you will come across Lord Etton and if you choose to go with him, you will gain a new achievement. However, this is not all that you will receive from this event because with it, comes an excellent business opportunity. From time to time, you will come across bags of dust which you can purchase for 7 gold.
Make sure to get as many of them as you can. This is where Lord Etton comes in as he will purchase every single one of those dust bags for a whopping amount of 11 gold a piece. This means that for every single bag that you sell, you will earn a profit of 4 gold.
Supplies Are More Important
We already mentioned that Yes, Your Grace will require the player to manage all kinds of resources, and while successfully managing each of them is the best way to handle things, there might be times when that is not possible.
This means that some resources take priority over others, in our case, supplies are more important than manpower.
In order to keep your army satisfied in Yes, Your Grace and ready to fight you will need to feed them, however, there is very little downside if you choose not to do so. While your force will diminish in power over time, this happens at a very slow rate, slow enough to make it almost not matter whether you feed them or not.
This means that if push comes to shove and you need to save up extra supplies, you can do so at very little cost by prioritizing supplies over men.
We probably already mentioned this in multiple above sections and this should go without saying. However, when playing Yes, Your Grace, it is of utmost importance that you try your best to help everyone, and by that, we mean every single petitioner, every single family member, and every single leader of another kingdom.
While this may not be always possible, in most cases it is a good idea to help out anyone in need provided that the gold and supplies are available. This will not only increase your kingdom’s contentment but will grant you extra gold income.
The happier your subjects are, the higher the weekly tax income will be, so it is in your best interest to make everyone happy.
