After the great success that was Punishing: Gray Raven, Kuro Technology is back with another action RPG set in an epic sci-fi world, Wuthering Waves. The game isn’t out yet, but fans are already waiting in line.

The big question is, when will Wuthering Waves be released? There are still no official announcements from the developers, but that doesn’t stop rumors from spreading like wildfire.

Wuthering Waves Release Date Rumors

Hearsay about the official launch of the game started in 2022. Many sources expressed that the game would come out in May or November of that year, but that ship has long since sailed.

The initial beta test of Wuthering Waves concluded in May 2023. Since then, new speculations have been floating around the internet. Many believe that the game will be available for download in mid- or late 2024.

Some users on the Wuthering Waves subreddit even go as far as to say that the Kuro game will be out before October 2024.

What’s the Current State of the Game?

It is best to take the online buzz with a grain of salt. At the end of the day, they are all just rumors. Players have to be patient for the formal announcement from the developers.

The game’s official page on the Twitter/X platform states that ‘it is currently under development.’ Links to their developer’s notes and other news are posted there.

The same updates are posted on their other social media handles. Here’s a complete list of all their social links.

Following their social media will give you an idea of where they are in terms of development. The creators regularly post profile reveals and background stories about their characters.

How Can You Pre-Register?

If you want to go a step further, you can try visiting their official website. The latest news and event notices are all on the landing page, the same section that highlights the pre-registration button.

Pre-registered players will automatically be notified when Wuthering Waves becomes available on the App Store and Google Play. Eligible devices can automatically install the app.

Will There Be Another Beta Testing?

On March 21st, 2023, the creators of the game declared their first closed beta test, which was only available to players in America and Canada. The event ended on May 12th, and all player data was removed that day.

Many individuals got a glimpse of what the game would be like during that period. So now, people may ask if there will be another round of closed beta testing. If so, will it be available in other regions?

Unfortunately, there is no news from the devs regarding this matter. But if the release date rumors are as true as they say, there might be no need for a beta test anymore.

What Can We Expect from the Gameplay?

A lot of those who have played the beta version and seen the trailers are comparing Wuthering Waves to games like Genshin Impact and Honkai Star Rail because of the aesthetic appeal.

The game also has cross-platform capabilities, meaning you can play it on both mobile and PC. Moreover, it has a gacha system that lets you collect and use multiple characters.

There are many things that make Wuthering Waves stand out. One example is open-world navigation, which has unique features like gliding, swinging mid-air, and running up walls. But the best part, of course, is the fighting.

Battles Mechanics

Fights in Wuthering Waves are straight-up action. There are no turn-based rules or anything like that. You can bring three champions into battle, but you can’t use them all at once. You can only switch between heroes for different abilities.

Because it’s pure combat, dodging and parrying will likely play massive roles. Many mobile users may find this alarming because dodging and parrying don’t always work smoothly in mobile RPGs.

But remember that they made it work in Punishing: Gray Raven. We can only expect that this feature will be more fluid in Kuro Technology’s latest addition to its catalog.

Black Shores
