Soccer Manager 2024 is a sports simulation game developed by Invincibles Studio Ltd. where you can manage football clubs of your choosing—either existing ones or teams you create yourself with hand-picked players, jerseys, and banners.
Unlike other football-based mobile games like FIFA Mobile or AFK Football: RPG Soccer games, Soccer Manager 24 focuses more on the technical side of football and requires a lot of micromanaging from its players.
In this guide, we will help you understand the basics of the game, which tasks to prioritize, and how to get better in the long run by following several helpful tips.

The ABCs Of Managing A Football Club
First, we will tackle the basics of Soccer Manager 2024 and how to navigate the game as a fresh new football club manager.
In Soccer Manager 2024, you are expected to manage several aspects of your chosen football club—including but not limited to:
- Player health and morale
- Facility upgrades
- Team chemistry
- Team finances
- Manager stats and skills
- Player transfers, releases, and salary
- Youth teams
Your main goal in Soccer Manager 2024 is to win tournaments, preferably ones that give your club the most popularity and prize money.
You can also move up in leagues by winning a specific number of matches per season, which should be one of your objectives if your team isn’t in the highest league in your division yet.
You can recruit players in Soccer Manager 2024 by doing the following:
- Buying them from the Spotlight or Youth Spotlight in the shop with Gold
- Transferring them from other clubs with either Gold or Cash
- Developing a Youth Player before putting them in your club’s main roster
- Loaning them from other teams
As soon as you join a new club, you must determine which positions are the weakest in your team and focus on recruiting better players for that position.
For example, if you start a new game and see that your midfielders are lagging behind your forwards and defenders in terms of stats or potential, it might be wise to focus all scouting efforts on recruiting new midfielders.
Remember that Youth Players can potentially become key players in your main roster later down the line.
Developing them should be on your list of priorities as the manager.
TIP: When recruiting Youth Players, hiring based on their potential instead of their current overall will be more beneficial to you in the long run. Don’t turn them away just because they’re still developing their talents!
Unlike in other football-centric mobile games like FIFA Mobile, you cannot control players during football matches in SM24.
What you could do, however, is select either Play Match or Quick Play before every match:
If you select Play Match, you will be able to give your team instructions or change their formations and tactics mid-game.
Selecting Quick Play, on the other hand, will not offer you many coaching options in exchange for giving you fast and automated management/coaching of the match.
TIP: As a beginner, we do not recommend you use Quick Play in at least your first 10 matches. Learn how to adjust your team’s tactics by playing plenty of matches manually early on!
Selecting either Play Match or Quick Play will allow you to watch in-game highlights.
These highlights may show you steals, free kicks, corner kicks, and goals. You can choose how fast these highlights are played or which plays should be considered highlights in the match controls.
After every match, you’ll obtain EXP depending on how well your team has performed in the game.
You also get multipliers based on how tough your opponents were and whether or not you played an away or a home game.
NOTE: Do not be discouraged if you draw or lose matches often. What’s important is that you learn how to influence the outcome of matches with your tactics early on, which will come in handy in future must-win matches.
Primary Objectives For Beginners In Soccer Manager 2024
If you’re at a loss on what to do as a complete beginner, here are the tasks that you must prioritize above all others in Soccer Manager 2024.
OBJECTIVE #1: Upgrade Your Facilities
Upgrading your facilities should be among your top priorities as soon as you get in the game, as upgrading them will give your team specific bonuses that’ll help you in the long haul.
Facilities do cost Cash to upgrade and Gold to expedite the building process, so it would be wise to focus on specific facilities first before upgrading the others.
Here’s a brief rundown on all the facilities you can upgrade and what they can do for your club:
|Stadium||Gives your club more Income per match and a better Fanbase.|
|Training Ground||Increases the Training Ground’s player capacity and the effects of your training drills.|
|Club Zone||Improves your players’ health and fitness, as well as your club’s finances and sponsorships.|
|Youth Academy||Increases your youth intake frequency and max quantity, as well as the quality of the youth players scouted in terms of potential and compatibility.|
|Scouting Network||Decreases the report time and increases the accuracy, scope, and number of results shown per scouting instance.|
The best facility to prioritize upgrading as a beginner would be the Training Ground, as training your players is among the very few ways you can improve their overall stats in Soccer Manager 2024.
TIP: If you have the patience to do so, we recommend watching ads to expedite your facility upgrades without having to spend Gold on them.
OBJECTIVE #2: Train Your Players
Expanding on the Training Ground being the best facility to focus on upgrading in the early game, you’ll need to take advantage by training your players as often as you can.
You can train players once every seven days, but once again, you can watch an ad to get one free extra training per in-game week.
Also, remember to set training drills according to what style of football you’d like your team to improve or focus on.
For example, if you like fast-paced and relentless attacking, select the Attacking training drill. Otherwise, improve your Defense, Technical, and/or other stats as you see fit.
TIP: You can vastly improve your team’s Fitness stat across the board and get them match-ready fast by conducting Physical training drills.
OBJECTIVE #3: Follow Your Board’s Objectives
The most important thing to remember as a beginner in Soccer Manager 2024 is to follow your Board’s objectives, as failing to do so can result in you getting fired from your club.
These objectives range from winning certain championships, keeping your finances and yearly income high, upgrading certain facilities, to even signing specific types of players.
Completing these objectives will affect your Fan Confidence and Board Confidence positively while failing to do so before their deadlines will result in your immediate termination as the club’s manager.
Seven Best Tips For Beginners In Soccer Manager 2024
Listed below are seven tips that’ll help you play Soccer Manager 2024 more efficiently and avoid pitfalls or mistakes that you may encounter as a newbie soccer manager.
TIP #1: Keep Your Team’s Morale & Fitness High
Every single one of your players has a Morale stat and a Fitness stat.
Both may change every time you play a match, make a transfer, conduct training drills, and so on.
Your player’s Morale determines their willingness to continue playing for your club, and can also determine their performance during matches.
To keep Morale at a high level, try to accommodate your players’ requests and remember to give them breaks by swapping them out of the rotation regularly.
Fitness, on the other hand, determines whether a player is in match-ready shape in Soccer Manager 2024. Players are more susceptible to injuries if they have low fitness and are less likely to perform well in matches.
The easiest way to improve a player’s fitness is to conduct Physical training drills in your Training Facility.
TIP #2: Check Your Inbox, Tasks, News, And Calendar Before Continuing
Before you simulate each day by clicking “CONTINUE” in the upper-right corner of your screen, you’re going to want to check the following features first:
- Inbox: Shows all relevant day-to-day info such as injury, scouting, fitness, and financial reports.
- News: Shows news about the football landscape—from recent signings by other teams to tournament match outcomes.
- Tasks: Shows all urgent matters you must attend to, like pending scouting offers or unallocated Manager stat/skill points.
Your Schedule, on the other hand, has its own section in the menu. It is featured as one of the options shown by clicking the navigation icon at the upper-left corner of the Home screen.
Here, you can check all of your upcoming matches and prepare for them by optimizing your team’s composition and formation beforehand.
TIP #3: Loan Out Players You Don’t Use Often
Not giving players minutes by putting them in the rotation before matches can impact their morale and stat growth negatively.
The easiest way to prevent this is to loan them out to other teams, which gives them the valuable playing time they need to develop.
You should be doing this for youth players especially, as most of them will barely see any playtime on your team until they mature.
TIP #4: Watch Out For Free Packs & Ad Opportunities
You can get free packs in Soccer Manager 2024 by clicking on the following highlighted button on your Home screen:
These free packs give you Cash that will help you upgrade your facilities, sign players, cover players’ salaries, and so on.
Also, watch out for ad opportunities that may come by. These will let you watch ads instead of spending Gold on essential tasks.
You can watch an ad as a substitute for spending Gold while doing the following:
- Hastening Building Upgrades
- Hastening Training Drills
- Getting Free Boosts
- Opening Free Packs
TIP #5: Save Your Boosts For Injuries & Critical Matches
You’ll be given Boosts at several points in the game as a beginner, such as when you level up or claim items from the shop.
These Boosts allow you to heal injuries, boost morale, increase team chemistry, remove suspensions, and even increase a player’s overall stats temporarily.
With that said it would be wise for you to save up these Boosts and use them only when you really need them, such as whenever you’re about to face a strong club with your star players either injured or suspended.
If you want to get the Boost’s effects on certain non-critical situations, you can always watch an ad as a substitute for using any of the Boosts you have collected!
TIP #6: Listen To Your Assistant Manager’s Advice
Your assistant manager will provide you with several important observations throughout the game, especially during football matches.
If you’re a beginner who doesn’t know any better, be sure to follow their advice and make the necessary changes to your team’s composition or tactics. It might just win you the match!
TIP #7: When In Doubt, Use Auto-Pick Or Click The Help Button
The best features Soccer Manager 2024 has incorporated in the game for beginners are the Auto Pick and the Help (?) features:
Auto Pick allows you to optimize your squad’s formation and composition according to your players’ fitness level, preferred positions, and morale.
This comes in handy if you have little to no knowledge of managing your team’s positioning or strategy, although we highly recommend learning these by yourself as you continue to play the game.
Clicking the Help (?) button, on the other hand, allows you to access any gameplay mechanic’s tutorial.
This will explain how a mechanic functions and how to operate it, which would help in case you missed the tutorial or need further clarification in Soccer Manager 2024, (which you most likely will as a beginner).
Soccer Manager 2024 is undoubtedly one of the most complicated sports simulation games to master, although doing so is absolutely rewarding, especially for the most devout football fans out there!
Soccer Manager 2024 focuses not just on the skill of the players and the outcome of football matches, unlike most other football games, but also on how every little change you make as a manager contributes to the success of your club.
