MiHoYo has managed to create one of the most enrapturing games of 2023 with their release of Honkai: Star Rail. Essentially, the game is a more confined and streamlined version of Genshin Impact. Trading open-world environments for bustling sandboxes, miHoYo has managed to keep the essence of Genshin Impact while adding the flavors of Honkai Impact 3rd.
Both familiar and completely new, Honkai: Star Rail weaves recognizable characters from Honkai Impact 3rd into an original story with a high-fantasy and sci-fi setting. Much like the Vidyadhara race in the game, miHoYo has managed to resurrect and breathe new life into one of their original IPs, Honkai Impact 3rd, with the release of Honkai: Star Rail.
Much like miHoYo, the character featured in this guide is a character who also breathes new life into your party members, the acting leader of the Vidyadhara, Bailu.

Ability Priority

Ultimate =>Talent => Skill => Normal Atk
Bailu is a committed healer and her most effective healing ability is her Ultimate. Since it heals everyone in the party based on her HP, you will want to prioritize leveling it up over her Talent and her Skill.
Afterward, you will want to level up her Talent because it is the source of Bailu’s unique mechanic, resurrection. Additionally, this talent increases the healing bonus of Bailu’s Invigorate, a special effect that heals any allies who recently took damage for a percentage of Bailu’s max HP.

Finally, you will want to invest in her Skill. While also a heal, there is a random component in which the heals will bounce an additional two times to random allies. This is a great part of Bailu’s kit that allows you to heal any ally who is in danger of being incapacitated. But low investment in this skill means unfavorable bounces, which leads to not getting enough healing on a character you are trying to keep from dying.
It’s important to remember that all parts of Bailu’s kit are what makes her a great healer. But by prioritizing the above abilities, you can make the most of Bailu as you build her instead of needing to wait until you’re finished upgrading her abilities.
Traces

- Qihuang Analects – When Bailu heals a target ally above their normal Max HP, the target’s Max HP increases by 10% for 2 turns.
- Vidyadhara Geo-Veins – Invigoration can trigger 1 extra time.
- Aquatic Benediction – Invigorated characters receive 10% less damage.
Another of Bailu’s unique mechanics is Invigorate. This passive ability grants stacks of Invigorate to any allies Bailu has healed. Allies who have stacks of Invigorate heal for a percentage of Bailu’s Max HP whenever they are hit by enemies.

This means Bailu’s traces amplify character survivability by increasing the benefits received from the Invigorate buff. Vidyadhara Geo-Veins increases the maximum stack of Invigorate from 2 to 3, while Aquatic Benediction straight up reduces the damage Invigorated allies take by 10%.
Finally, Qihuang Analects can help increase the survivability of characters with a low HP pool. Such as Hunt characters like Seele, or support characters like Tingyun. Additionally, this trace can work offensively for characters like Blade who deals damage based on his Max HP, or even a Clara who dishes out damage whenever she is hit.
Eidolons

Eidolon Level | Eidolon Effect |
---|---|
E1 | If the target ally’s current HP is equal to their Max HP when Invigoration ends, Bailu additionally regenerates 8 Energy for this target. |
E2 | After using her Ultimate, Bailu’s Outgoing Healing increases by an additional 15% for 2 turns. |
E3 | Ultimate Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 15. Talent Lv. +2, up to a maximum of Lv. 10 |
E4 | Every healing provided by the Skill makes the recipient deal 10% more DMG for 2 turn(s). This effect can stack up to 3 time(s). |
E5 | Skill +2, up to a maximum of Lv15. Basic ATK Lv +1 up to a maximum of Lv 10. |
E6 | Bailu can heal allies who received a killing blow 1 more time(s) in a single battle. |
As is the norm with this section, we’d like to inform any of our readers that Eidolons for 5-Star characters are in no way integral to how they perform. Each 5-Star character is good right out of the box and players should not feel the need to spend more to obtain more copies of them.
That being said, Bailu’s E4 increases the damage your party deals, since it increases the damage dealt by a total of 30%. It is important to note that buffs to damage dealt is more significant than buffs to Attack since characters don’t always deal damage based on their attack stat.
Best Relics on Bailu
Messenger of Traversing Hackerspace

Best Relic Stats | ||||
| Helm | Gloves | Body | Feet |
Main Stat | HP + | Attack + | Outgoing Healing Boost% | Speed |
Sub Stats | HP %, SPD, Effect Res, Def% | HP %, SPD, Effect Res, Def% | HP %, HP+, SPD, Effect Res | HP %, HP+, Def%, Effect Res |
Speed is the most overpowered stat in the game since it allows your characters to take their turns sooner and more often when fighting enemies who are slower than them. This translates into more energy for more ultimates, more damage since you take more turns in a battle, and more defense since you could kill an enemy before it can even act.
As such, Messenger of Traversing Hackerspace is the best set for most supports in the game since it is the only set that passively grants a percentage-based Speed bonus to the wearer. Furthermore, it grants the entire party an additional speed bost whenever the wearer casts their Ultimate on an ally.
Fleet of The Ageless

Best Planar Ornament Stats | ||
| Link Rope | Planar Sphere |
Main Stat | Energy Regeneration Rate | HP % |
Sub Stats | HP %, SPD, Effect Res, Def% | HP +, SPD, Effect Res, Def% |
Fleet of the Ageless increases the wearer’s Max HP, which is helpful for Bailu since her heals scale from her Max HP. Also, it increases allies’ attack if the wearer can reach 120 Speed, which should be easy to achieve on Bailu since we will ideally be wearing the Messenger of Traversing Hackerspace set.
Best Light Cones for Bailu

Rarity | Light Cone | How to Get |
---|---|---|
✦✦✦✦✦ | (Best in Slot) Time Waits for No One | Gacha / Starlight Exchange |
✦✦✦✦ | Post-Op Conversation | Gacha |
✦✦✦ | Cornucopia | Gacha |
Similar to the other standard characters available in the game, Bailu’s best light cone is her signature LC, Time Waits for No One. It increases her effective healing as well as adds a damaging mechanic against enemies whenever she heals an ally.
Her best alternative LCs are Post-Op Conversation and Cornucopia.
Conclusion

Until the release of Lynx in version 1.4, Bailu is one of only 3 healers available in the game. While she offers no cleanse for whenever allies are suffering from a debuff, she is unmatched in her ability to heal allies and resurrect anyone who has been incapacitated.
