The much-awaited Genshin Impact update 4.2, “Masquerade of the Guilty,” is just around the corner, and it is coming with a dozen new elements in the game.
We’ll be having new characters, quests, events, weapons, expansions, and much more. Now, without further ado, let’s dive straight into the details and see what new features HoYoverse has planned for us.

Genshin Impact New Update 4.2 Release Date
The new update will officially launch this Wednesday, i.e., November 8th, around 3 a.m. GMT. Users living in the East, West, or Central Coast of the US will be able to access it on November 7th around 10 p.m. (ET), 7 p.m. (PT), and 9 p.m. (CT), respectively.
These times are still just an estimate, and we assume the update will drop somewhere around them.
New Characters in Genshin Impact Update 4.2
Two new characters are making their way into the game, while three previous ones will be returning.
As for the new ones, we will have Furina, a 5-star character, and Charlotte, a 4-star character. Furina is a Hydro sword user and is good at combat, landing powerful strikes.
Meanwhile, Charlotte is a reporter, capturing damaging images with her camera and providing healing and assistance to her teammates at the same time.
As for the returns, we will get to see Baizhu, Cyno, and Ayato.
New Weapons in Genshin Impact Update 4.2
A couple of brand new 5-star signature weapons will be coming in the game for Furina and Baizhu. They will also be featured in the banner.
- The Splendor of Tranquil Waters – Sword for Furina
- Jadefall’s Splendor – Catalyst for Baizhu
New Areas in Genshin Impact Update 4.2
In the new update, we will get to explore more of Genshin Imapct’s Fontaine region, both underwater and on land. Areas like Lakelight, the Terrestrial Sea, Fathomless Towers, and Foggy Forests will be added to the game.
The two latest eastward areas will include the Morte Region and Erinnyes Forests. Both of these areas will be plagued by bacterial mats, and you’ll have to cleanse them along with the Xenochromatic Ball Octopus.
As you move forward, you will come across two new bosses as well, which I’ll mention in the next section.

New Bosses in Genshin Impact Update 4.2
Two new bosses are coming in the new update, and one of them is super mighty! The All-Devouring Narwhal, which you might know from the 4.1 story quest, will be a part of the new update.
This boss is very powerful, and you have to outsmart it instead of fighting. The second one is the Hydro Tulpa, a monster made from drops of water.
New Story Quests in Genshin Impact Update 4.2
The main story will continue in the Archon Quest, Chapter IV, Act V: Masquerade of the Guilty. Players will go through some intense events after the crisis that we saw at the end of 4.1.
But they won’t be alone! They will have Fontaine friends to accompany them and complete the quests. There will also be Animola Choragi Chapter: Act I, where we will get to know more about Furina.
Apart from this, more new quests will come with time.
New Events in Genshin Impact Update 4.2

New Features in Genshin Impact Update 4.2
There has been some system optimization, which will make the game smoother. Moreover, now we have a quick start for weekly bosses, which will let you upgrade new characters easily even if you’re behind in the quests.
There are also some UI optimizations, and overall, the game will feel much better now!
