Playtrix’s Gardenscapes is one of the most unique match-3 puzzle games ever. The game is similar to another called Merge Survival: Wasteland and Wildscapes in terms of storyline, allowing you to play and watch the story unfold.
One of the unique things about Gardenscapes is its intuitiveness. For example, it incorporates a butler (Austin) who will guide you throughout the major part of the story. However, Austin might not be able to help you fully. Hence, this article comes with some tips, tricks and even cheats that can make you navigate the game easily.

Number #1: Observe the board first
The more you play the game, the more you value observing the board before making any move. One of the many mistakes players make when playing Gardenscapes is being in a hurry. Instead of doing this, you should observe the board and formulate a strategy to beat the level. For example, in the image above, observing the board will show a potential four flower match up at the lower right corner.
Observing the board can be in terms of its shape, layout, orientation, and presence of blockade. For example, vertically matching the tiles might be the best option when playing on a narrow field.
In short, observe the board, don’t rush, and strike!!!
Number #2: Consider the positioning of the tiles
Reading the game, matching the required item, and activating power-ups when in the right position can differentiate between winning and repeating a level. Ensure that you only activate anything, whether power-ups or boosters, where they can trigger a chain reaction via a single move.
Also, you should be able to know when matching some tiles is necessary and where you should delay a little. Take it like a chess board and think 2 or 3 moves ahead. It might not be easy, but the hardest level becomes easy when you start using that in your gameplay.
Number #3: Match from the ground up
After playing over 20 levels in the game, someone whispered to me, “Why not match from the ground up?” My instant counter question was why, but on checking the board, I could easily fathom why. When you match from the ground, it affects the tiles you match and those above. Furthermore, there is a high tendency for other tiles to fall into places that you can easily salvage.
While useful, you should still consider previous tips before matching from the ground. For example, you might need vertical matching for narrow boards.
Number #4: Know your allotted moves
The number of allotted moves you can make is on the left side of the in-game. I didn’t notice it in my first few games, which made me replay some levels. However, you should focus on the number of moves available and make the right decision.
Number #5: Know your special tiles and obstacles
Obstacles and special tiles act as a blockade preventing you from matching some tiles. Common examples you will encounter include the Gnomes, which you can collect by matching layers on the grass tiles to expose them.
Other special tiles include boxes, lemonades, acorns, ice, flowerbeds, walls, and earth and emeralds. The more you play, the more you understand how to collect them.
Number #6: Don’t miss the mini-game
There are some mini strategy games you can play that can earn you stars during the game. Ensure you visualize the game and achieve the desired result. For example, using the mini-game above, what do you think is the better option?
Ans: Use the last two pins to block the respective point. Afterwards, release the pins directly blocking the gold.
It is possible to forget yourself in the world of tips, tricks and cheats trying to beat the game. However, since we are your online Austin, we would like you to remember to enjoy the game.
