If you’ve played other Koei Techno’s Dynasty Warriors games then you’ll know that not many games are able to capture the magic of these dynasty games.

Fortunately, you don’t have to look for substitutes because there is now an official Dynasty Warrior M game on mobile devices.

That’s right, NEXON Company has come out with an officially licensed Dynasty Warriors game called Dynasty Warriors M. While it indeed has several elements from the console games, the gameplay has been changed significantly to suit mobile devices.

Therefore, it’s understandable that both veterans and newcomers to the Dynasty Warriors franchise will struggle to get used to Dynasty Warriors M, and that’s where we come in. We’re here today with a complete guide for everything you need to know about this game, including tips and tricks that will help you rise to the top.

Starting Off

As soon as you first download and start Dynasty Warriors M, you’ll have to download some extra content. With that done, you’ll be asked to log in to an account. While there are multiple different ways you can link your account to save your progress, the one method you shouldn’t use is playing as a guest.

After all, if you play as a guest then you might lose your account information if you delete the app, change devices, or if you reset your current device. So, just to be safe rather than sorry, we recommend you link your Dynasty Warrior M account with another account.

After creating your account, you’ll instantly be thrown into a beautiful animation that will set up the story. After that will be the tutorial and you’ll be ready to step foot into the world of Dynasty Warrior M.

Enjoying the Thrill of Battle

As it is with other Dynasty games, the combat is what sets this series apart from every other game out there, and Dynasty Warriors M is no different. This game follows the same Musou games format in the sense that it’s you fighting against countless enemies in every single battle.

All of these minor enemies have limited health and don’t do too much damage, making it easy to use the crowd-controlling moves most playable characters have to make quick work of them. Of course, that isn’t all there is to it, as there are officer and boss enemies that can quickly change the course of any battle.

In-Game Controls

Before anything, it’s crucial to go through the Dynasty Warriors M in-game controls when in battle. This game has an on-screen control layout that players use to control their characters. The analog stick is to the left while everything else is to the right.

So, what do we mean by ‘everything else?’ We mean all of the cool abilities every playable character can do, of course.

The big button at the right indicates the basic attack option. Tapping it once has your character attack once while tapping it in succession will have your character use combos.

Surrounding the basic attack button are five smaller buttons. These range from skill attacks to attacks that embued your weapon with a specific type of elemental energy to deal damage of that type.

With that being said, every button aside from the basic attack one can be used once before going on cooldown for a couple of seconds, so try to use them sparingly.

If you gather enough energy, a golden icon will also show up on top of the energy attack. This is your Musou or ultimate attack that deals devastating damage to enemies. Of course, every character has a different ultimate attack too.

Taking Down Officers

So, how do you win battles in Dynasty Warriors M? Well, while minor enemies continue to come to the battlefield, officer enemies are unique and are signified by a large health bar appearing on top of the screen.

Officers are significantly stronger than basic enemies and are usually characters that you can unlock and play as for yourself. Defeating these officers allows you to either progress with the battle or complete it entirely.

One thing to note, however, is that every officer has a set elemental type in Dynasty Warriors M. If you use a character that’s strong against the officer’s element, then the enemy’s attack will be decreased.

However, if you use a character that’s weak against the officer’s element then the enemy’s attack will increase instead, making it more difficult for you to win.

Dominating the Battlefield

Fortunately, you don’t have to do everything with one character in Dynasty Warriors M. You can take a maximum of three characters to every battle and have the ability to switch between them at any time by simply tapping their face on the left of your screen.

It’s important to note that, similar to when you use a skill attack, switching characters also places a cooldown on your ability to switch characters again.

Therefore, it might be a good idea to switch your character when an enemy officer shows up to ensure you can make the most of their weakness.

Additionally, some battles also have your entire team go on the battlefield at the same time. The character you aren’t using is controlled by a computer to ensure they can cause mayhem on the battlefield.

Dynasty Warriors M – Rebuilding Your Kingdom

Battling isn’t the only thing you’ll be doing in Dynasty Warriors M, as it also features a civilization-building aspect to it. At the beginning of the story, you’ll see that your kingdom will be attacked by a couple of bandits.

Although you’ll take them down comfortably, that’ll only be after they deal massive damage to your kingdom.

To ensure you’re able to get your kingdom back on track, you’ll have to build everything from the ground up.

Not only will you have to rebuild buildings, but in due time, you’ll also get the opportunity to make your kingdom stronger than it was even before everything.

Fortunately, building things in this game is pretty easy. Simply tap your castle and again on “construction”. Here, you’ll see everything you can currently construct as well as the amount of resources you’ll need to construct it.

One thing to keep in mind is that some buildings have set prerequisites that you have to build before you unlock them. For example, before you can build the sawmill, quarry, and forge, you have to construct the storehouse first.

Conquering Other Kingdoms

Hey, when you consider when Dynasty Warriors M takes place, it makes sense that there would be some conquest elements involved, right?

After going through the tutorial for a while, you’ll eventually unlock the conquest mode, which you can go to by tapping the icon at the bottom right of the screen when in your kingdom’s screen.

In this mode, you raid other kingdoms by going against their soldiers and army officers. Every battle gives you valuable resources and has you take control of it, adding it to your ever-expanding list of conquered kingdoms.

After conquering one, you can move on to another by simply tapping on it in the Dynasty Warriors M conquest map. Conquer every kingdom in a region and you’ll unlock other regions to get the opportunity to spread your influence all over the Dynasty World.

Experiencing A Legendary Story

If you don’t want to write your own story and instead want to experience an already-written story featuring some of the most infamous figures in Asian history, then Dynasty Warriors M has you covered from that aspect too.

After unlocking the story feature, you’ll get the option to explore the legendary story of the Three Kingdoms era.

This mode also has multiple different chapters that showcase different figures in history. Of course, all of them are playable characters and can also be acquired in Dynasty Warriors M.

Every chapter also has multiple missions that you have to complete if you want to unlock the next chapter. Fortunately, or unfortunately, you have to play through the story mode using characters that you actually have instead of as characters that are featured in that particular chapter.

Oh, you weren’t thinking that you’ll have to play as the same three characters you unlock in the tutorial, were you? Dynasty Warriors M features several characters that you can unlock, level up, and play as. While some of them are from other Dynasty Warriors entries, others are new faces you might not recognize.

At the start of every battle, you’ll get the chance to add or remove characters from your team. As mentioned above, you can have a maximum of three characters in a team in every battle, but that shouldn’t stop you from experimenting around.

Recruiting New Heroes

To recruit new heroes, you first have to unlock the feature by progressing in Dynasty Warriors M for a while. When you do unlock it, it’ll be accessible by tapping the recruit option at the bottom of the screen.

Now, there are several different gacha banners you can use to summon heroes. Oh, yeah did we forget to mention that this was a gacha game similar to Genshin Impact? While there are standard banners that always have the same couple of heroes, limited-time event banners also show up every now and then.

Make sure you determine which banner you want to summon from by factoring in the pros and cons. After all, summoning heroes isn’t free as it requires a form of currency that isn’t easy to come by.

Strengthening Your Officers

The next feature we want to cover is the training one in Dynasty Warriors M. When this feature is unlocked, you can tap the ‘officer’ option at the bottom of the screen to go to the training screen.

Here, by selecting an officer you have and tapping the ‘details’ option at the right, you’re able to train that officer to the next level by using up some exp and gold.

Every character has a level cap, but the higher the rarity of the character the higher the level cap is, so you shouldn’t have to worry about reaching the level cap anytime soon.

Additionally, by leveling up a character, a majority of their stats are also increased by a small amount. This makes that character much more useful when in battle.

That isn’t the only way you can strengthen your officers. The first way you can strengthen your character is by using good equipment. Different equipment has a set amount of buff that they apply to characters and can be equipped from the officer screen.

Additionally, Dynasty Warriors M also has tactics. Tactics are permanent buffs you can apply to your characters and they range from stat buffs to elemental buffs.

While every character has one inherent tactic, you can equip up to two tactics on a character by collecting them to further increase the character’s strength. You can also level up these tactics to make them even stronger.

Finally, you might be wondering what happens if you use the recruit option but accidentally get multiple copies of the same character. Well, that’s where the train feature comes in. When unlocked, you can tap the ‘train’ option at the bottom of the screen to go to the train menu.

Here, by merging the same types of characters, it’s possible to increase the rarity of your characters. Do you remember that level cap we mentioned? Well, by ascending a character, it’s possible to increase that level cap to allow you to further strengthen your officers.

Additionally, ascending a character can also increase the officer’s soul level cap and tactics level cap. Basically, it breaks the power ceiling for the character, allowing you to make the most of them.

Conclusion

This concludes our guide for Dynasty Warriors M. These were all of the major game features that you should keep in mind when starting the game for yourself.

Dynasty Warriors M been received very positively both by fans of the Dynasty Warriors series and newcomers alike, and there’s no surprise as to why.
