Deemed one of the biggest mobile gacha games in recent times, Honkai: Star Rail brings a hefty concoction of triple-A (AAA) graphics and exquisite character designs that’ll please any handheld game enthusiast.

With the recent Honkai Star Rail 2.0 update bringing many exciting changes promising more content for the weeks to come, one compelling reason to jump back into the boots of the Trailblazer is the introduction of the irresistible Memokeeper, Black Swan.

She’s a unique damage-over-time (DOT) specialist, requiring adjustments to certain gear and setups, so here are some of the best Light Cones and Relics you should consider getting for her.

Black Swan, Seeker Of Memories

In Honkai: Star Rail, Black Swan is a follower of the Aeon, Fuli. As such, she’s borderline obsessed with collecting people’s purest memories despite her elegant and peaceful demeanor.

Most of the time, though, she only seeks to preserve them as knowledge and information against the continuous decay of time. Also pledging herself to the Path of Nihility, her powers mainly debilitate and harm enemies via different means other than direct attacks.

The publisher, Cognosphere, did a splendid job of translating Black Swan’s lore from its original Chinese texts for global audiences to indulge in. Getting to know her character better helps players understand her in-game abilities and synergies more effectively.

As shared earlier, her kit plays with DOT effects, specifically her Arcana debuff. It works similarly to Wind Shear, the staple tick damage for another Wind-type hero, Sampo.

Knowing this aids you in pairing Black Swan with the most ideal Light Cones and Relics you might have at present. So, if you’re having trouble maximizing her role during combat, these are the best items you should consider giving her in the game.

Best Light Cones & Relics For Black Swan

To get the most out of Black Swan’s proficiencies, you must focus on a build catered towards her three most beneficial stats:

  • Effect Hit Rate (EHR)
    • Ensures the best chance for Black Swan’s Arcana debuff to proc on enemies.
  • Speed
    • Gets Black Swan to cycle through the turn order at a much faster rate, inflicting more Arcana stacks onto foes.
  • Attack
    • Increases her skills’ potential damage outputs.

Depending on the Light Cones and Relics you have on hand (the gacha gods favor people differently), Black Swan’s gear might be different based on a case-to-case scenario. However, knowing which stat you want to improve the most helps you gauge a build for her at present.

Inflicting Arcana damage each turn, her abilities synergize phenomenally with other offensive debuffers/ DOT masters, such as Kafka. As such, her gear is sometimes the same as theirs, more or less.

Let’s get into some grittier details.

Light Cones

The best Light Cones are as hard to pull for as 5-star characters, so that’s why there are different options for you to pick for Black Swan in-game. Let’s go through each of them (five of the best):

(5-Star) Reforged Remembrance

"Reforged Remembrance" Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail.
Photo: miHoYo

Featured character: Black Swan
Base stats:

HP
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
ATK
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
DEF
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
48 – 1,05826 – 58221 – 463

Superimposition (Summarized, Lvl 1. – Lvl. 5):

  • EHR increased by 40% – 60%
  • Damage to enemies inflicted with Wind Shear, Burn, Shock, or Bleed grants 1 stack of Prophet* for each type (maximum of 4 stacks for 4 different DOT types)
  • *Prophet:
    • ATK increases by 5% – 9%, DOT damage penetrates 7.2% – 10% of enemies’ DEF

Unsurprisingly, Black Swan’s exclusive Light Cone jives with her EHR build the most. It provides insane EHR boosts that almost guarantee Arcana procs on enemies during battle.

Even better, Reforged Remembrance bolsters her ATK stat further, besides making her DOT deadlier, bypassing a portion of the foes’ DEF. The only downside is that getting it from Warps can be pretty troublesome/ time-consuming.

(5-Star) In The Name Of The World

Featured character: Welt
Base stats:

HP
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
ATK
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
DEF
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
48 – 1,05826 – 58221 – 463

Superimposition (Summarized, Lvl 1. – Lvl. 5):

  • Damage to debuffed enemies increased by 24% – 40%
  • Character’s Skill is empowered:
    • EHR increases by 18% – 30%
    • ATK increases by 24% – 40%

For a more concentrated setup, equipping In The Name Of The World elevates Black Swan’s attacks by a ton. What’s more, it supplements her Skill (Decadence, False Twilight) for more effectiveness and damage, exploiting the move’s DEF-reduction debuff to full effect.

(5-Star) Incessant Rain

"Incessant Rain" Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail.

Featured character: Silver Wolf
Base stats:

HP
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
ATK
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
DEF
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
48 – 1,05826 – 58221 – 463

Superimposition (Summarized, Lvl 1. – Lvl. 5):

  • EHR increased by 24% – 40%
  • Critical Rate increased by 12% – 20% when attacking enemies suffering from at least 3 debuffs
  • Basic Attack, Skill, and Ultimate have a 100% base chance to proc Aether Code* on a random foe
  • *Aether Code:
    • Target suffers 12% – 20% more damage for 1 turn

If you’re running Black Swan in a debuff-heavy, area-of-effect (AOE) party, Silver Wolf‘s Incessant Rain does wonders to sweep the stage of monsters. With the bonus to EHR guaranteed, inflicting Arcana onto foes becomes much easier.

Additionally, getting the added Crit Rate chance gives you a reason to try an unconventional build altogether. Not to forget, stamping the Aether Code status onto random enemies directly set up scarier follow-up attacks for specific team members to take advantage of, like the Fire-type dancer, Guinaifen.

(4-Star) Eyes Of The Prey

Featured character: Sampo
Base stats:

HP
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
ATK
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
DEF
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
43 – 95221 – 47615 – 330

Superimposition (Summarized, Lvl 1. – Lvl. 5):

  • EHR increases by 20% – 40%
  • DOT increases by 24% – 48%

If you’ve been playing Star Rail for a while now, you might have Sampo’s Eyes Of The Prey in your inventory already. It’s a superb EHR item for nearly every DOT character in the game, including Black Swan.

Its effects are straightforward; power-ups to EHR and DOT. Depending on the substats on Black Swan’s gear, this Light Cone could be a worthwhile pick.

(4-Star) Good Night And Sleep Well

"Good Night And Sleep Well" Light Cone in Honkai: Star Rail.

Featured characters: Pela, Serval
Base stats:

HP
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
ATK
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
DEF
(Lvl. 1 – Lvl. 80)
43 – 95221 – 47615 – 330

Superimposition (Summarized, Lvl 1. – Lvl. 5):

  • Each debuff on the enemy (including DOT) increases your damage by 12% – 40% (maximum of 3 stacks)

Good Night And Sleep Well isn’t as great as the others mentioned earlier, but it’s still a viable option if you’re out of usable Light Cones for Black Swan.

In fact, it might even surpass your expectations if she uses it when grouped with multiple DOT damage dealers as well, skyrocketing her potential damage-per-second (DPS) output.

Relics

In terms of Relics, only some of them synergize with Black Swan well. Here are those you should be eyeing right away:

(Cavern Relics) Prisoner In Deep Confinement

Prisoner In Deep Confinement set in Honkai: Star Rail.
Photo: miHoYo

Complete set: 4 pieces
Effects:

2-PIECE SET4-PIECE SET
ATK increases by 12%Your damage ignores 6% of the enemy’s DEF for each DOT inflicted (maximum of 3 DOT effects)

The Prisoner In Deep Confinement set is by far the ONLY one you should be looking at for Black Swan. Noting how her kit heavily relies on DOT effects, it’s the only one that greatly benefits her when compared to all the other Cavern Relics in the game.

Expect Black Swan to hit harder with this set, regardless of the 2-piece or 4-piece set you’re running (depending on your Black Swan’s build).

(Planar Ornaments) Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise

Photo: miHoYo

Complete set: 2 pieces
Effects:

2-PIECE SET
EHR increases by 10%

ATK increases by 25% of the total EHR (maximum of 25% increased ATK)

For Planar Ornaments, the Pan-Cosmic Commercial Enterprise set is the most universal choice for almost any Black Swan build. It supplements both her EHR and ATK directly, especially when you’re bound to improve her EHR as much as possible in most cases.

Its logic is simple too; more EHR, more ATK!

(Planar Ornaments) Firmament Frontline: Glamoth

Firmament Frontline: Glamoth set in Honkai: Star rail.
Photo: miHoYo

Complete set: 2 pieces
Effects:

2-PIECE SET
ATK increased by 12%

Damage increased by 12%/ 18% when SPD is at least 135/ 160

If Black Swan has already been built around her SPD stat, then the Firmament Frontline: Glamoth set could be a more exceptional option to pick for.

Assuming she’s already jumping queues in the turn order while racking up those Arcana stacks passively, boosting her ATK and actual damage further can be incredible for certain end-game challenges or away-from-keyboard (AFK) farming.

(Planar Ornaments) Space Sealing Station

Photo: miHoYo

Complete set: 2 pieces
Effects:

2-PIECE SET
ATK increased by 12%

ATK increases by another 12% when SPD is at least 120

The Space Sealing Station planar set should be the backup alternative to Glamoth if your Black Swan build doesn’t get her SPD above the 135 value.

Both sets almost work the same way (ALMOST!) but this one is slightly behind because it doesn’t outright improve damage, unlike the Glamoth set.

(Planar Ornaments) Belobog Of The Architects

Belobog Of The Architects set in Honkai: Star Rail.
Photo: miHoYo

Complete set: 2 pieces
Effects:

2-PIECE SET
DEF increased by 15%

DEF improves by an additional 15% when EHR is at least 50%

A somewhat conservative choice, the Belobog Of The Architects set helps Black Swan survive engagements for longer. Considering her EHR is going to be above 50% in almost every build, she gets a free 30% DEF increase right off the bat!

Arguably, her offensive capabilities are dampened with this one. Still, it’s there for you to consider, especially if you’ve just started building her (EHR, SPD, and ATK stats are still being grinded for).
