Unknown yet destined for greatness, the Trailblazer (you) is the only character who can freely choose between two in-game Paths to follow; the more aggressive Path of Destruction (Physical) or the more balanced Path of Preservation (Fire).

While the Physical choice is easier to build around, the Fire-type selection is more nuanced, forcing you to be on the offense and defense simultaneously. If that fits your playstyle in Honkai: Star Rail, here’s a quick look at the best builds you might find interesting.

As the protagonist in Honkai: Star Rail, versatility is part of your Trailblazer’s overall charm. So, choosing the Fire-type route unlocks splendid synergies with different characters in the game.

Your kit revolves around two main stats: Attack and Defense. These two values will dictate how effective many of your abilities will be, so it’s clear which gear would fit perfectly with your Fire-based character:

Despite the Trailblazer’s Fire Damage capabilities, the character is still predominantly centered on absorbing enemies’ attacks to protect allies in combat.

Hence, these sets give the most value out of their encompassing kit.

Rare Light Cones, such as the 5-Star Moment of Victory, might not be accessible to everyone. Fortunately, nearly all the other Preservation ones work incredibly with the Trailblazer (Fire), with the following being among the most ideal:

Effect Resistance increases by 8% – 16%

Effects related to Shields only trigger once per 3 turns

Relics-wise, a few other options are available if you have the Guard of Wuthering Snow set on another character. So, if you have the Credits, a visit to the vendor is due.

If not, you’ll need to farm for these sets instead:

Some players prefer their Trailblazers to be more direct in combat; hitting the enemies more than tanking damage. Although arguable, these 2-piece sets help bolster their attacking potency if you’re of the same mindset.

Planar Ornaments SetEffect(s)

Besides Defense, you can opt to toughen your Trailblazer’s fortifications through their Shield effect too. This works tremendously because they summon them every time they attack the enemy, which is always!

Planar Ornaments SetEffect(s)

Belobog of the Architects
Increase Defense by 15%

If the Effect Hit Rate is 50% or higher, receives additional 15% Defense (maximum of 30% Defense)

While no Planar Ornament focuses on Shields in the game (at least, not yet), Belobog of the Architects suits the Shield build perfectly, making your Trailblazer bulkier.

Yes, the Trailblazer can be built in various ways. However, the common consensus is that he’s a bruiser or tank, depending on the team composition.

Here are some good examples of parties that put him to optimal use:

Pure/ Mono Fire Team

Fire-element characters are all about overwhelming carnage, and putting the Trailblazer with Himeko, Guinaifen, and Asta ensures unlimited blazing infernos to scorch enemies!

Himeko’s the primary damage dealer, with Guinaifen providing Burns and her Firekiss debuff. Asta gives Speed and even more Fire Damage increases, rounding off an explosive hit squad.

Focused DPS Team

For adventurous Trailblazers, getting Bronya, Tingyun, and Asta together gives you loads of Attack and Speed enhancements, letting your Trailblazer eviscerate foes like never before.

Hypercarry Support Team

With Seele on the team, you’d want her to get all the kills on the field to maximize her scary DPS limit. This is where Ruan Mei helps buff everyone’s Attack, Breakness Effect, and Resistance Penetration, including for the Trailblazer.

When played right, the Trailblazer softens enemies while getting everyone’s Shield up, allowing Seele to dispatch foes with relative ease afterward. Natasha is there to provide the heals, prioritizing the Trailblazer for attracting enemy aggro.

Overview

As the hero Trailblazer, your allies look to you for inspiration, leadership, and protection. Thus, your overall kit provides all this.

Not only will you generate stacks of Magma Will to devastate multiple foes frequently, but you’ll also be diverting most of the aggro to yourself, besides creating tough Shields to guard your teammates.

Akin to either an indomitable knight or a powerful warrior, the Fire Trailblazer’s abilities are open for you to experiment with:

As you can see, the Trailblazer (Fire) can be built as either a tanky damage dealer (Fire Damage, Magma Will stacks) or an unyielding party support (Taunts, Shields).
